December 2004
Hello and Welcome,
I
want to thank the Pierce County general membership for your support
and confidence in me as your 2004 President. My goal was to unite
the membership in cruises, car shows and fun activities. I give all
credit for the clubs success in 2004 to the members that supported
and participated in the events.
I welcome all the new 2005 officers, board members, car show chair,
web and newsletter staff. A special thanks to Dan Alpert as the
new President who will guide us through 2005. Dan will continue to
work with the, officers, board and general membership to ensure a
New Year filled with potlucks, cruises and a few of his own rabbit
tricks. I have every bit of confidence in Dan's leadership as I turn
the reigns of President over to him. Lets support and welcome the
new Officers and Staff to PCMC to ensure our club success. No job is
to small to support the club.
I encourage everyone to get a club jacket as it demonstrates club
unity. The price is very reasonable, $80.00 average and includes
sales tax! If you want to obtain a club Jacket between our general
meetings, call Spinning Wheel Embroidery located at 22007 Meridian
in Graham, phone (253) 847-1600 and ask for Pat or Chris.
The PCMC Holiday Gathering was a huge success. To save the club
money and to socialize it was decided to have a dessert buffet at the
Freeman home. I thank Pete and Nancy for hosting this truly
wonderful evening of desserts. If you missed this event, I want you
to know that we ate your share of the banana crème pie.
Please remember, our meetings are on the third Tuesday every
month at Korum Ford in Puyallup at 7:00PM. Meetings are only one
hour, but very important to the success of our club. Board
meetings will be held on the second Tuesday every month at 6:30PM at Korum Ford.
And last but not least, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year. Drive safely and responsibly! See you at the meeting next year
in 2005. Please welcome our new president, Dan Alpert.

President 2004
Hello from your new President!!
First of all, I would like to thank out going PCMC
President Bill Pavone for a job well done in 2004. We had another
successful year and we appreciate all of Bill’s hard work.
I would like to introduce myself to those that don’t know
me. I have been a Mustang enthusiast since before I could drive in the mid
80’s in which I collected and read many magazine articles on Mustangs. My
first car was a Mustang II when I was 17 and my second car was a ’69 Grandé
in which I built a 351C 4V motor for in high school auto shop. Fuel costs
and practicality made me get rid of the gas guzzler, but I still had
aspirations of getting a ’68 and modifying to my tastes. In the mean time,
I purchased a ’91 LX 5.0 coupe in which I have now owned for just over 10
years.
I now have that ’68, but it is still in the building
stages in which I hope to see it to the driving stages by summer 2005. You
can follow my progress here at this link:
http://www.bluetalons.com/mustangs/sonic68 . The length of time
required to get the thing done (taking full time college classes didn’t
help) had me squirming for something new, so I bought a ’99 GT in July 2004
to have fun with. (Is there anyone interested in a nice 1991 LX 5.0
coupe??)
2005 should be an exciting year. With the new ‘05’s
injecting new blood into the Mustang world, we hope to see an increase in
the enthusiasm for our favorite fun car. Vice President Tim Gwynn and I
also have a few ideas that include a few more “exhilarating” activities.
Those of you that attended the vintage races this past year have a taste of
what we are looking forward to in the coming year. We will still have
activities that will include all types of Mustang enthusiasts. But getting
the juices flowing and creating excitement are what get me energized about
Fords corner on the market of the first and only “pony car” still around!
Have a happy and safe holiday season!

November 2004
Hello and Welcome,
I would like to thank the current officers, committee participants, all of the car show staff, the web and newsletter staff and board members for their contributions to club activities in 2004. And a big thank you for all the new 2005 officers, board members, car show staff and all the continuing help from our newsletter and web staff for stepping up to the plate for club service. You make the club happen!
At the November 16th meeting we tried on club jackets for our sizing needs. If you missed this opportunity, come to any general meeting and try a member's jacket on for size. I encourage everyone to have a club jacket as it demonstrates club unity. The price is very reasonable, $80.00 average and includes sales tax! If you want to obtain a club Jacket between our general meetings, call Spinning Wheel Embroidery located at 22007 Meridian in Graham, phone # 253-847-1600 and ask for Pat or Chris.
Don't forget the PCMC Holiday Gathering, mark your calendars Sunday, December 12th in the Coho Room at the Muckleshoot Indian Casino in Auburn at 6:00PM. We have two meal selections Chicken Cordon Blue ($21.18 per person) and Alaskan Halibut stuffed with crab ($28.26 per person). Payment is due by December 7th. Mail payment reservations To PCMC PO Box 44853, Tacoma, WA 98444. Gift exchange limits $10.00 and should be a non-car item. This is wonderful time to get to know your club members and have a fun evening.
Please remember, our meetings are on the third Tuesday every month at Korum Ford in Puyallup at 7:00PM. Meetings are only one hour a month, but very important to the success of our club. Drive safely and responsibly! See you at the meeting.

September 2004
Hello PCMC Members and visitors,
September was indeed a busy month! The Ocean Shore Fun Run was a success with three clubs participating and 21 cars. We thank Gary and Pat Weaver for their continuous work with the Sands Resort on rates, show setup and coordination of activities.
How about that annual Pierce County Mustang Club Picnic? About thirty people showed up for fried chicken and all those neat potluck weight-gaining dishes. The slow drag was won by Tom Neil with his 2003 Black Cobra - who says a snake can't strike slow.
Bill Norman won the blind man drive guided by Ariel Pimentel and back seat instructed by Tanner on the fine art of driving. Pete Freeman ended up a close second - by one second. (His wife steered him to the finish line) It's unfair; Nancy has been yelling at him for years, you know he's going to get it right.
All kidding a side, we had games for the kids. I think they were chasing eggs all over the park in a potato sack. I thank everyone in attendance for their contributions to the picnic. Indeed it was a success!
We had six participants from our club show at the Mustang West Car Show. I think we took 2 awards! I thank the Mustang West Club for being so cordial to our club in all their events. The show took place at the nice College Park. A class act show.
The month of October we seek out new blood as Officers, Board members and Car chairperson. Everyone will have a chance to vote or volunteer for a position. We need occasional change and new Officers bring to the table many good ideas and events. Here is your chance, take advantage of this opportunity.
I welcome all our new members and your shiny Fords. Have a nice month and Drive responsibly!

August 2004
Hello and Welcome!
I owe a lot of thanks to all the folks that showed up early in the morning to set up the "12th Annual PCMC Mustang and Ford Roundup." The donuts, coffee and window decal hardly paid them back for all there efforts. And many stayed after the show to load up the tents, tables, Generator, orange cones etc and continued to the storage facility for unloading. One individual went above and beyond the call of Duty; he returned the truck after the load out! Thanks you guys! You know your Car Show was a success; when you here comments like, " Look at those trophies-I thought it was going to be another plaque" or "Look at all the categories and there is parking space between the cars!" Don't forget the great job on that mall walk! I overheard someone say; " a car show and I get to shop!" All and all " a great show!"Thank's to all of you!
The next event ( September 11th & 12th) is our Show and Shine at Ocean Shores. This is our second largest event of the year! Thanks to our host "The Weavers", we have a new extension till August 28th to reserve rooms at the bargain rates $ 49 to 79 dollars. Check our web site for the details. All Mustang Clubs are welcomed to participate. The Arts & Craft show is being held that same weekend. Plenty to do, there is even a "Casino" and excellent food close to the Sands resort.
Mark those calenders for the upcoming Mustang West Car Show September 26th, last show of the year.
Maybe we can take the "Club Participation award this year". After all they took ours! Also the day before the Mustang West Show we have the PCMC Annual Picnic on September 25th!
On behalf of the PCMC we welcome are new members; Alec & Candace Rehms. They come to us with a 1973 Mustang Convertible (copper color) and a 1967 Blue T-Bird. They are definitely Ford folks! Make yourself at home with the Pierce County Mustang Club.
Please remember, our meetings are on the third Tuesday every month at Korum Ford in Puyallup at 7:00PM. Meetings are only one hour a month, but very important to the success of our club. Drive safely and responsibly! See you at the meeting.

July 2004
Hello PCMC Members,
I want to thank all of you for your contributions and efforts in organizing the Car Show, the Ocean Shores fun run and the picnic to follow. I appreciate all the long hours. Without you we have no show.
Our club is progressing along and tying up all the loose ends for the upcoming 12th annual PCMC car show. Put the word out, we have invited all the other clubs. Hopefully, they will participate and try to win the "Club Participation Award". It's all in the numbers.
The 15th annual Vintage car races at Pacific Raceways (SIR) provided our PCMC members a rare chance to meet Phil Hill (First American to win the Grand Prix in 1961) and not only to watch the races, but to participate on the track as well.
Five PCMC members showed up at the Mustang Roundup in Bellevue on the 17th of July. Four first places! The fifth took an award also. That's club participation! Lots of shows this coming month, so mark your calendars.
The Kitsap Mustang Club is hosting the 16th Annual "Mustangs on the Waterfront" (July 25th -that's Sunday Morning). We will be meeting at Krispy Kreme at 8:30AM and traveling as a club to Port Orchard for the show. Last year we had a nice turnout and took a lot of awards home.
I'm getting excited about the Ocean Shores Fun run. Get those reservations in now! I'm in hopes that all the clubs will participate. Remember last year? We had a nice time at the Craft Fair and the Casino. How about the food? Who else is on a Diet?
Have a safe month and Pray for our Troops!

June 2004
Hello PCMC,
Summer's here! Car Show activity increases in proportion to the good weather.
June 26, at 10:00AM (Saturday morning) we cruise from Crispy creams (south hill mall-Puyallup) through the back roads of Sumner, Orting and Buckley.. We will arrive at the Logger Show for lunch. Everyone is on there own schedule upon arrival. This can be a fun day for the family.
Don't forget to mark those calendars for 2,3rd and 4th of July! The Vintage Car Races promises a unique experience with celebrities and a trip around the track.
Gary and Pat Weaver are hosting our PCMC second annual fun run to Ocean Shores on 11th and 12th of September. Last year total cars numbered 29 with the Mustang West Club joining us. This may become our second largest event with inviting other clubs to join in on the fun.
Pete and Tom are hard at work on our car show. Car shows don't just happen, it requires volunteer's. If you can lend a helping hand, we can use it.
We wish Ron Jones a speedy recovery from his recent illness. Ron & Sue you two are in our prayers.
We welcome our new PCMC members: Sydnie Rota and our visitor Patti Dahl.. Make yourself at home.

May 2004
Hello PCMC,
The Port Angeles show and the Horsepower at the Harbor were attended by PCMC club members this month.Lots of First Places! It's a nice way to kick off the summer.
Give it up to "Mustangs West Club" for a well coordinated activity with (4) clubs participating! I'm referring to Saturdays ride (May 22) to Mt St Helens. A lot of fun. We started out with a convoy of PCM members and headed toward Olympia to merge with Mustangs West Club. Out of Olympia we cruise the back roads through the scenic countryside. We had a relaxing lunch at Castle Rock,(wherever you had for lunch-you either had pizza, subs, or burgers). We lined up and what an awesome sight to be in a convoy of over a hundred Mustangs! It was a rainbow of colors, every year and type. That's the excitement we all shared traveling out of Castle Rock to MT St Helens. The weather turned a bit rainy (some said snow mixed with rain). Next year Mustang West will plan the trip in June. It was an incredible experience. Don't miss this ride next year. Thank you, Gary, Pat and any all the PCM members that helped with coordinating this event.
As we approach our summer months all the Mustang clubs activity increases. We are still working on our Mustang All Ford Show at the South Hill Mall in August. We still need to gather up sponsors fees, and a multitude of items that need to be ironed out before our car show. I again would like to encourage the new members as well as regular members toparticipate. I thank Pete & Nancy Freeman and Tom Alpert for all your help on the car show. Let's give them a helping hand.
Thank you , Bill Norman and John Kogel for helping with the meeting during my absence.
Also, if you would like to contribute items for the raffel or door prizes, please contact Ron or Sue Jones. This is just another way of helping your club. Thanks all!
Thank you Dick Giguere for donating all those florescent vests for use in our car show.
How about our May general meeting? Thank you,Tim for the information on the 4th of July weekend to meet celebraties , get autographs and possibility of driving around a race track! Yes , our club was invited to the 16th annual Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Races. This is a charity event benefit for Childrens hospital and regional Medical Center. Lets show are support and show up as a club! Also, Dan & Karen Thumma , they gave a nice talk on synthetic oils. Very informative. I would encourage club members to get speakers for our general meeting for about 10 minutes.
I want to welcome our new members! Dennis Hoff and Michael Jones; make yourself at home with the PCM Club.

April 2004
There was a good turnout for the Port Angeles Show. Six Mustangs met at the 6th Ave Safeway: Gary & Pat Weaver - 99 Saleen; Mike Jubec - 89 SSP LX; Pete & Nancy Freeman - 93 GT Convertible; Tim Gwyn - 66 2+2; Fred & Pat Levering 65 Coupe; and Bill Norman - 68 GT/CS.
We left around 6:30 and headed to Port Angeles. The trip up was intermittent dry, showers and rain, but once arriving in Port Angeles, the weather cleared up somewhat even though it was rather chilly.
With a quick pit stop just south of the Hood Canal Bridge, where we saw the Kitsap Club which had made a pit stop and then left; we continued on the way.
We arrived at the car show, parked and started the cleaning of the 'Stangs from the road wetness. Then we walked around and filled the ballots of the Mustangs and Cougars of our choice.

It would have been a clean sweep, but because of the way parking was set up Mike Jakubec was not with his class. His 89 SSP LX received a lot of compliments though.
A former PCMC member, Bill Keneipp, also took 1st in his class.
The weather co-operated on the way back and we did not run into any rain shower, just lots of traffic.
All in all it was a fun trip.

March 2004
Hello and Welcome
Don't forget, the potluck on the 27th of March! The map is in the February newsletter. It promises to be a fun social event with good food for everyone. Your family members and children are always invited! If any last minute folks need direction or advise on what to bring, please call Lia Pavone at (253) 582-6248.
Time to get those Mustangs and Fast Fords polished up. Our first invitational car show is on April 17 put on by the Port Angeles Mustang Club at the Courthouse. Our hat goes off to them! We know how much effort it takes to put a car show together. With all their planning and coordination , they must have been working on this show for a long time. From the show of hands at our last meeting, we will plan a caravan on that Saturday morning to travel in style.
Just as you finish April 2004,we start in on other shows, May 2nd mark your calenders for the "Horsepower at the Harbor" by the Oak Harbor Mustang Club. I know it's impossible to make every Car Show, some weekends there will be more shows than others. So, I encourage everyone to select shows that fit into their busy schedule. It would be nice to travel as a club to these shows.
I owe a bunch of thank you's to PCMC members for all the work on our car show. From getting the sponsors , to the storage project , no job to large to accomplish! I encourage new members to share in a part of this Club's legacy. I personally thank Board member John Kougl for stepping up to the plate and volunteering to be our secretary at our meetings. Also, a thank you to Tom Alpert for his work in expanding our website and changing domains at no additional cost to the club! Remember, there are still a few PCMC positions available. As always, My motto for the club is "Be part of the solution, the reward is overcoming the next challenge and it will surely guarantee our success"!
On behalf of the PCMC we welcome our new members; Bill and Carol Gorman and Michael and Susan Clark.

February 2004
Hello PCMC
We had our first event this year "The Mafia Drive By!" Quite a success, I'd say. We cruised through Point Defiance, Ruston Way, and eat lunch at Knapps in the Proctor District. There were two mysterious guests from Mustangs West, they took our first place fun gift. It was nice of those folks to join us, and as always welcomed to participate in our events. That's what our club is all about!
If you didn't attend the Wine tasting, you missed a real fun event. I didn't know that Puyallup had so many Antique shops? I speak for all that attended; we enjoyed our selves at a comfortable pace.
March 2004 brings on the Saturday (March 27 @ 4:00PM) Pot Luck at the Pavone's House. Directions are included in this newsletter. Don't miss this social event ! Eat, relax and enjoy each others company. No structured meeting, Just fun and some games.
We owe a great big thank you to Pete Freeman and Gary Weaver! They secured more space and parking for our PCMC Car Show. We need to clone these men as worker bees! Thanks again Pete & Gary for all your efforts!
Be thinking of how you would like to participate in the PCMC Car Show. Our Car Show is in August. It's not that far off. There has been a lot of planning behind the scenes. We now need to put the plan into action. Every member should have a part in the show to insure success. If you haven't found a position and would like to help, Just call a club officer and they will accommodate. There are a few vacancies that need to be filled. Be a part of the solution!
I want to welcome our new members! This is an excellent time to meet the members and just have fun. See you at the Pot Luck!

January 2004
A thank you is in order for Mike & Kathleen Mitchell for organizing the December Cruise through Spanaway Christmas Lights and then topped it off with pizza. Thanks Again, your appreciated. Also, Pete & Nancy Freeman. Thank You folks for all the behind the scenes work on the Club Car Show and for preparing our timetable of events including the budget. And a Big thank you to the general membership and past officers for a smooth transition of Officers and Board members.
We all make resolutions for the New Year, mine is to increase the social events and rides for 2004. All members have the privilege of choosing, sponsoring or participating in an event for the club. So, don't be shy. Seldom are you alone, members seem to want to increase the fun and participate. Even a suggestion of an idea can spark interest in our club. It's contagious! Also, for those of you that are not sure, the Car Show affords an opportunity to be part of our show. Ask other members about the positions available. A club is only as good as the members participate.
This month is ending fast, so our January Cruise on the 31st at 8:30am is at Crispy Creams at the Tacoma mall. we have coined it the "Mafia Drive By". All participants will receive a dash plaque. We will cruise Point Defiance and the Ruston waterfront. We'll have lunch and call it a day. These are the events we all enjoy. I can't wait to see the oohs and ahhhs form the spectators. We tend to draw a crowd with our Mustangs. But then again our cars are special!
Future events sport a wine tasting in Puyallup on Feb 7. Don't miss this one. March will bring on a potluck at the Pavone's House. I'm looking forward to checking out those culinary skills and just socializing with all of you. April, a "Tax Relief Party" at a local Casino for dinner and a little luck we'll have fun.
I welcome our New members: Ruben & Jamie Noland, Jim & Tanja Oliver, Jean Cournoyer and Timothy & Sharon Clark. Jump right in and make yourself at home. I can guarantee this year will be" fun in the Sun."
