March 2008 I want to welcome all our new members and thank those who have paid their dues to continue membership in our great club. We have had a lot of fun over the past year and if the first few months are any indication, it looks like this year is going to be even better. So far we have 11 new members signed up since the first of the year and a total of 51 members on our roster. We are definitely looking good. I have really appreciated the attendance at our general meetings. This to me says that you are interested in what the club is doing and will be doing. That is fantastic as this will only help to have the club continue to grow and of mainly have fun. The season has only begun and we are looking at a very busy schedule of show and shines as well as many car shows. Please bring calendars to meetings as we will try to continue to let everyone know of those car shows ands other events we as a club usually go to. Of course we hope that you will attend as we like to go to these car shows and have the most club members there. But please remember that you can attend any shows or events you choose and we always hope that you will have fun and let us know of any prizes you win. It looks like Pete & Nancy Freeman has done it again this year. Yes, they stepped up and this year they were joined with Lance & Sandra Smith in putting together our March cruise. The “Five Card Draw Poker Cruise”, held on March 22nd and boy was it well attended. We met at Krispy Kreme at 10am. and started what was a great road trip to five places to draw cards. We drew many, many hard stares and admiring glances including a police drive by to look for themselves what was all the cars doing in their town. At the end of the trip, which ended in Tenino at the Fifties drive-in restaurant, we not only had great food but the final drawing and awarding of the prizes. Congratulations to the winners and we sure hope all had as much fun as I did even though my car was in for repairs. Hope to have it on the road again soon. A huge, HUGE THANKS to the Freemans and the Smiths for stepping up and setting this up, you did a fantastic job. We had a couple of clubs that join us for the fun and I heard nothing but compliments from all those I talked to. YES, Flyers and the registration form is about to come out for our big car show, The 16th Annual “All Ford & Mustang Roundup”. As soon as they are published I suggest you get your application and get it in early. I want to thank those who stepped up at the meeting and volunteered to take a sub-chairman job and help make this car show really a huge success that will help make it the one everyone wants to attend each year. If you missed the meeting, we are working toward having trophies that will inspire those who come to return such as a distance traveled and a club with the most dues paying members in attendance. This show is really starting to take great shape, but we can still use all the help we can get. If you have some expertise or just want to help out and volunteer, we sure can use the help and there is plenty of work to go around. I think we all want to make this as successful as we can so that we can present another great check to our charity, Sweet Willies Family Support. Remember that our Chairman Justin O’Daniel can not do this alone so step up and help out, I a sure you that you will have a fun time. Be sure and let Justin know how much we appreciate him and the great job he is doing in keeping us on track. The Mini Car Show at Korum Ford is taking shape as well with the trophies being ordered and our conversations with Craig and Sebastian. As was done last year, they will be providing trophies and the staff and customers will be voting on which car is the best. This event will be held on the 26th and 27th of April and we hope that we can have at least 20 to 25 members sign up for this show which is for our members only. We want this to be a showing of our thanks for Korum’s support to the club. I will have a signup sheet at our next meeting for those who will attempt to be there. This will give us an idea of a number that may attend and also for any thing else that may need to have this basic information. I would like everyone to put on their thinking caps and be prepared to discuss the moving of the club meeting to either the 2nd Tuesday of each month with board meeting moved to the first Tuesday. Or for the other thought of moving the general meeting to a Thursday leaving the Board meeting where it is presently. This has come about due to Business Events that Korum Ford has started scheduling that happens on our General Club meeting night. Since Korum, both Jerry and Sebastian, have been very good to us I hope we will be willing to bend a little for this issue and look to what would benefit both Korum and our club. We have many events coming up and again, please bring a calendar to help keep track of them as I think this will help you and us keep up with all that is going to happen for and about the club. Again, I want to thank all for your understanding in my approach to last year and this year as well. I have tried to build on our enthusiasm as a club as well as pride in our club. That was my thoughts when I brought up the whole thing about pins and jackets for and about the club. I hope you all will buy your pins and flags to be displayed to show some of this pride and enthusiasm in our club. See Nancy Freeman for those items and stickers for your windshield of our logo. With the support we have been getting from our members and Korum Ford, we can do nothing but continue to improve and get bigger and better as a club. Thanks for your support and continued attendance at our meetings. Jerry Murphy February 2008 The first couple of cruises have happened and they were great. If you did not make them, well you missed great times. Both of them dealt with wine and tasting and whoever you talk to and which ever cruise they went on, all say they enjoyed themselves very much. I hope you are looking forward to the upcoming months of cruises and car shows that we are planning on doing and/or attending. Last year was a blast and the club really grew and we feel it was due to all the fun we tried to put into the events of the club. With that being said, we sincerely hope that you will pitch in and enjoy the cruises and help wherever you can to make every event FUN. We welcome all our returning members and those who have just joined our happy group. We really do hope all will join in and have fun with us. We hope you will not only coming out on cruises, but jump right in and help with them as well. This I think is what makes them so successful and FUN. When we all help out it does seem to make things go better. WELCOME! With that being said, we still are looking for some volunteers for some of our sub- committees for the car show. I think those who have stepped up last year found that it was a bit easier then they thought it might have been. As we have said before, In one way or another the club pitched in to make our annual car show the success we had. Show chairman, Justin, has reported that everything seems to be on schedule. However he could use some people to step up take on some of the committees that make the show work. Please contact him or me and let us know what you would like to help out with. We are presently trying to set up a time and date to get together with Greg, the person Sebastian has to work with us, to set up the show and shine like we did last year for Korum Ford. We are proud to be associated with Korum and all the help and support they have given us over the last year and look forward in our relations this year. We have it tentatively set for April 26th and 27th but have not confirmed this with Greg. It looks like Pete Freeman has done it again. Yes, he has stepped up again this year and along with Lance Smith, has put together our March cruise, the “Five Card Draw Poker Cruise” to be held on March 22nd this year. We will meet at Krispy Kreme and depart at 10am and I hope you all will be there as this looks like it is going to be a great cruise. We will cruise through Spanaway, Yelm and Rainer ending in Tenino at Scotty’s 50’s Drive-In. This is a great nostalgia place with great food and 24 flavors of milkshakes. Some Flyers have been distributed concerning other upcoming shows for those wanting to attend. April also looks like a full month with the Aberdeen WA show put on by 5 Star Ford. Last year was said to be great. That will be April 5th, and April 12th will be the 1st Annual “BOOTLEG” car show sponsored by HARMON. This will be on a first come basis. Check the flyer for more details. Cascade Ford Show in Sedro Wooley will be held on the 13th of April. The season has started and we look forward in participating in as many as we can as a club, but we also want to continue the cruises as well. Lance and Sandra have said they will be glad to set up another outing to the Drive-In Theater. Last year’s was so much fun and all who attended could not say enough about it and give enough our thanks to the Smith’s. May will see everything pick up even more so as we start out with May 3rd car show in Port Angeles. Great last year and most of us are planning on attending this year. You can pick up flyers on all upcoming event/car shows at our general meetings. There is just one last item for this month’s corner. I have continued to say over and over again that I really feel that communication is a very important ingredient for success in any organization. SO I ask that you please help us to help you by filling out those surveys and turn them in to your board members. We are trying to make things be as good as we can and by your input of what and how you feel about things will only help us. Also, if anyone has anything they think needs to be brought up to either the board or at a club meeting, please let me know by phone or email. I will not promise that everything gets discussed, however attention will be given to all questions, suggestions or problems. If not brought up in a meeting, you will receive an answer to your request/question/idea from me. Also remember that all board meetings are open to you if you would care to attend. They start at 6:30 pm in the Korum Ford conference room. Thank you and I hope to see as many as can make it to our next cruise. Jerry Murphy January 2008 Here we go again. As we begin 2008 we are
looking forward to another great year with lots of activities and
things to keep us busy as we want to be. We are also looking forward
to hitting the ground running with the following events for the next
few months and ask you to please note them on your calendars. December 2007 Again I say, What a year this has been. I think
we have a great slate of officers to get this new year started off
and running. Everyone has jumped right in and it looks like we have
several things already cooking for cruises and events for our up
coming year. I think from what I have seen so far that all are
excited and want to see just how much fun we can have this next
year. I really want to thank all who worked so hard to make
everything jell and the great success that was had by this club. I
mean everything, because I believe that it took all to be
successful. From the tiniest job to the biggest, for if all had not
been done it would not have been not only fun and exciting but as
successful. I know, I know I have said that several times so far in
this newsletter, but I really do mean it. November 2007 What a year this has been. I want to thank all
of you for making it one big success. As this month is our last full
membership meeting, I want to let you all know just what a pleasure
it has been to serve as your president and represent the club in
that capacity. We have had several cruises this year and I sincerely
hope you had as much fun as I have had. I also want to welcome all
our new members and hope you will just jump right in and in doing so
I am sure you will have fun. I do believe that when you are doing
things and seeing the results of that hard work, you feel more a
part of that organization. It also is what makes this club great,
everyone working together for the best for the club. October 2007 September 2007 I do not know what we are doing, but we must be doing it right as our club continues to gain new members. I want to welcome all those who have joined us in the last couple of months, as it is you that is the cause of all this excitement. This year has just been amazing to say the least. With the cruises we have put on and/or participated in, we have been making this a busy and fun year. I sincerely hope that you the members have had as much fun as I have. It has been a blast and we are not done yet. We have a few more car shows to attend and/or help with, some cruises and our annual picnic. We also have of course, our annual Christmas dinner. Again, let me welcome all the new members as well as those returning to membership. Let’s have fun! We have some dates to keep in mind for upcoming events for the rest of the year. September 23rd is the Ponies in the Park, in Lacey. September 29th at Korum Ford in Puyallup we are having a Display event. This will be an event for us to show our appreciation to Korum Ford for all their support for us this last year. They would like us to fill up their lot around the Store and are putting on a BBQ for lunch for all attending. It looks to be a fun event to go and just show off your car. A big event happens on September 30th that would be our club picnic at Pierce County Fair Grounds. A lot of great games, with some super events such as slow drags, blind man bluff driving course which sounds very interesting. We have scheduled a couple of events in October; see we told you we would keep busy this year. The first is the 6th and 7th which is a trip to a place on the Columbia River called Patterson. This is the annual (as I understand it) wine trip. This is a major grape area and a nice turn out is expected. However if you do not go to that, there is a car show being put on by a youth group as a fundraiser. This will be on October 6th at the Scottish Rite Building on Vassualt across the street from TCC. October the 20th we are having a combined cruise to the TMS. This is The Mustang Shop (TMS) and they are planning on having a BBQ lunch for us. We are hoping for a huge crowd, so come on out and have a blast. This cruise to the TMS is also a coat drive in which we hope to gather a bunch of coats to turn over to Sweet Willie and his charitable organization. Finally in October we are scheduling a Halloween cruise to NW Trek. This only time the Park opens during the evening to look at the animals. Sounds like another great trip. December 7th (date change) will be our annual Christmas Banquet. We are trying a new venue this year which we think will be great as it has a beautiful view. The last cruise of the year is our annual Christmas light cruise drive through Sprinkler Park. This is always fun to watch the people stare at our cars as we cruise around the lights. We now have a bigger shed and all our equipment has been moved in thanks to Pete and Nancy Freeman. A letter has also been written and submitted requesting a list of equipment we need. The list includes tables, chairs, trash cans and some extension poles for speakers. If this company the letter was written to comes through then we will save some money, other wise we did vote to spend some money to get these things as they are needed for us to do the great job we did at our own car show. Once again our club members have continued to bring back the hardware from car shows they have traveled to both far and wide. What we have heard at the meeting makes me think that some of these members must have a huge trophy case to put all these awards and trophies in. I personally think that it is saying that we must have some of the best cars in the state. We can also say that our club is being well represented in car shows all over the state. When I was in Yakima for their car show, I was very proud of our club as comments came to my attention that people thought we had not only a great club but a friendly and fun club as well. Way to go gang. You are really a great bunch and I hope you are having fun. Once again it is that time of year. YES, it is ELECTIONS. We are asking you to be thinking about who you will want to hold offices for your club next year. The offices are the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer/Membership, Board Members. The non-elected positions we have are Newsletter editor, Webmaster, Club Raffle (Meeting), Car Show Chair (Justin O’Daniel Has volunteered to take the car show on again). If you would like to have your name placed in nomination or you want to volunteer for one of those non positions, please let either me know or Nancy Freeman (who is handling the election paperwork for us). We need to be ready for elections to take place at the November meeting. We are also looking for people who would shadow some of the major offices and chairman positions so as to be ready to step up in a year and help the club continue to do great things. I really want to thank everyone for their support this year. I especially want to thank Sebastian Finocchiaro of Korum Ford who cam to us and offered fantastic support for our club. Without you the members, and Korum Ford support I feel we would have not have had the success we enjoyed this year. SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING Jerry Murphy August 2007 WOW! What a great job everyone did on the Car Show. First, let me say a big thank you for all showing up to help get things set up. I kept saying without the club pitching in to help it would be a tough thing to do. Well you stepped up and everything got done and in record time too. Secondly, a huge thanks to all who took on the big task/job of each of the chairman’s positions. There was a lot to get done for each and they all stepped up to the task. I am new to this game of car shows, but I for one must say I feel this was one big, no make that a great big success. I know there is always room for improvement and there again, everyone has put on their thinking caps and we are putting together ideas and thoughts for next year. That is the way things go, as we prepare for next year by starting to put together what we are to do and how it will get done. I want to give a great big HELLO to all our new members and also our returning members. Since August the 1st we have approximately 12 new members added to our membership rolls. This is great and I hope that each one of you will keep on coming to our meetings and give your input. We hope to have a few more cruises next year in addition to those tried and true ones we already do. Car shows are great to participate in but I personally believe that getting in our Mustangs and traveling around having people stare at us is great. So far this year we have had the Sweetheart cruise, the TMS show, the Poker run and of course the Drive In Movie were all fantastic and great fun. If you have any ideas please pass them on as we want to make this a club of having fun as well as showing off our cars. Up coming events are coming at us hot and heavy for the next few months, so keep your eyes on those you want to attend and those that you can attend. We have a special opportunity for us to show our appreciation to Korum Ford. We have been asked to do a display of our Mustangs during Korum’s off site sale days. After discussion we came up with the date of September 29th as the day we felt would be good. It will only be a display event to show off our Mustangs. Sebastian has kindly offered to have a lunch for us and maybe a trinket or two. We have also invited a couple of our neighboring Mustang groups to try and make this a good turnout. Korum Ford has been good to us and we are hoping to do this display event as a thank you for their support. Dates to keep in mind as the year wears on are September 29th Korum Display event, September 30th our club picnic at Pierce County Fair Grounds and December 8th our annual Christmas Banquet. Of course there are many car shows going on, so choose the ones you want and head out and have fun. We have another cruise to Ocean Shores on the 25th of August, which I hope there will be a huge group go to that one. They set up a mini car show and have a lot of fun showing the cars. In the spring we had a cruise to TMS and approximately 50 cars showed up. To keep with what we are trying to do with the club and make things fun and sometimes learn more about our Mustangs, we have set up another TMS cruise. This time TMS will be showing us some different things about our cars. They are also planning on a BBQ, now is that not something else. We have invited a couple of other clubs to join us and see just how many cars we can get there. This event will be on the 20th of September. I am looking forward to that cruise myself. You can never learn too much about your car and TMS always puts on a good show for us and plenty of food. We will now have a bigger shed thanks to the membership voting to do this. We really needed it as we out grew our smaller storage shed. With the equipment we already have and that which we are trying to acquire will definitely give us the need for that shed. We are also looking to pick up some 8 foot tables of our own so that we can quit borrowing and do what we want when we need to. This and a few more things were brought to our attention as needed items due to our critique of the car show. Last meeting many things were brought to the attention of the membership (please read the minutes of the meeting for 21 August) as a result of the car show. Everyone in attendance was in agreement that these things needed to be improved or replaced or purchased for the good of the club. As the club will grow so grows the need for the equipment/items to support that growth. I once again want to thank everyone for their support this year at our annual car show. I especially want to thank all our sponsors, who without them the show would have not been the success it was. I have sign letters of thanks, but that does not seem enough for their support and I hope that as a sponsor of our show you will understand just how much we the Pierce County Mustang Club really appreciate all of you. Thanks, Thanks and Thanks again. SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING Jerry Murphy July 2007 First of all let me start this months corner off by saying congratulations to all who have been participating in various car shows in and around locally, out of state and just all over. Not only are they representing themselves, but our club as well. I am in hopes that when each of you go out to a car show, no matter how small or how large, you will let us know. Just going to the show is great enough as you are getting our clubs name out there, but if you place and get a trophy you definitely deserve to be recognized. The club is very proud to have our members out there at the various shows and having fun. Want to give a great big hearty WELCOME to all of our new members. We are very glad to have you join our club and we look forward your participation in our coming events. We also look forward in having your ideas and suggestions toward that which we are always trying to accomplish. That is making this a club for everyone, activities and events for all to enjoy. Our Car Show seems to be progressing right on schedule. Our chairman, has been keeping tabs on everything and all needing to be or get accomplished, has been done. A huge thanks also goes out to Dan, Nancy, Pete and Paul for all their hard work on this years show. They have also played a very important part in keeping us right on schedule. I for one, am looking forward to this years show and with a lot of butterflies in hopes that we make this as good as last years in order to give Sweet Willie’s charity a nice size check. Again, I ask each of us to help where you can and volunteer where you can to help make this years show run as smooth as we can. There will be a special meeting of all Committee chairs and volunteers on the 31st of July explicitly for the purpose of the car show. Nothing else will be discussed, only car show business. We had another one of our club cruises and this one was to the Drive-In movie in Auburn/Kent area. What a great event it was and all who attended said they had a great time. A great big huge thank you goes out to Lance and Sandra for chairing this event. We had plenty of popcorn and candy for the show as Lance and Sandra had the trunk of their car full of goodies. There were 12 cars in attendance and all stayed through at least the first film. However I must report that the strongest of us, Lance and Sandra, Pete and Nancy, Myself and wife Kathy remained for the second feature. We got out around 3:30 am and all cars started fine and we left in a cloud of dust. We have had several enquires about the possibility of doing another Drive-In movie cruise. I am really glad that these cruises are going so well. Some of the other suggestions for cruises are a pot luck dinner, another workshop cruise to TMS ( The Mustang Shop) and a baseball game ( Rainiers). Watch your newsletters or better yet, attend the meetings and find out what is going to happen next…. SURPRISE. I again would like to remind everyone to mark their calendars for our CLUB PICNIC. We have it scheduled for September 30th. I have it on good authority that a lot of fun and good food will be there for us to take part in. Plenty of games and activities for all.
SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING Jerry Murphy June 2007 Here it is June already and I think we have just started, oh well. Our membership has grown and the roster looks great again. The more the merrier. We have several things coming up that are just for us as a club to do. We are looking forward to a club cruise to an actual DRIVE IN THEATER. This not only sounds like fun, but can be a real great time for us. Another cruise for our club will be a Rainier ballgame. We are still trying to work out the bugs, but it looks like it could be another fun event. After some discussion, the board felt that we as a club should have fun events because not everyone goes to and enters in car shows. So these events are geared to be fun events for and about the club. We sincerely hope that all will participate and really make it fun. The Drive-in movie is set for July 6th. We will meet at Krispy Kreme at 6:30 pm and leave by 7 pm. That should put us there right on time. We are hoping to get at least 20 people to attend this cruise. Not 20 cars, but 20 people as this will give us a discount on the tickets. The other big event coming up right away is the Antique Car races the 29th of June to the 1st of July. This was a lot of fun last year and looks to be again this year. We had the pleasure of a visit from Mustangs Northwest to explain about their upcoming car show, MUSTANG ROUNDUP. There will be several days of events including a cruise on a boat. Most of our members that were present indicated that they wanted to go to the Pony Cruise which will include a ferry boat ride. All sounds like a great time to be had. We thanked Mike Godwin and Terry Green for their presentation and talked of doing a few things together. The more the merrier. I would like everyone to mark their calendars for our CLUB PICNIC. We have it scheduled for September 30th. I have it on good authority that a lot of fun and good food will be there for us to take part in. Now for the CAR SHOW NEWS. We have had a lot of the sponsors spaces filled but still need some to complete the list we have. Remember we can use sponsors and can put their name down as a sponsor even if we do not have them sponsor a class of cars. This year we will have a radio station, KZOK, and will be giving us plugs on the air for our show. They will be on site and will be having a huge signup for their give away of around $20,000 worth of ATM stuff. We believe that this will help bring in people to our car show. We hope his really works out this year, who knows where it could lead for advertising next year. We may have to have an early meting of the committees and maybe even the club to make sure the car show comes off without a real big hitch. Be sure and come to our meeting in July for all the details and a run through for the Show. Remember, you can volunteer as we are always in need of people to help us. This is a big job and it will take a big effort to make it the success it should be. SEE YOU AT THE NEXT MEETING July 17th Jerry Murphy May 2007 The 15th Annual “All Ford & Mustang Roundup.” Get your application and get it in early. I like to start off with the same heading as I used last time. Even if you do not think so, it is a lot nearer than you think. We are now getting into the stage where everything is going to come at us with such speed that we will wonder what happened. Sponsors are a big issue, as without them we can not put on a great show. I am hoping that we are all out there selling the idea of our car show and how much advertising they get for their contribution to the show as a sponsor. As of right now, it appears that we have at least half of the categories sponsored but of course that still leaves half to sell. Again I can not say how much we want to support and make this as successful as we can so that we can present another great check to our charity, Sweet Willies Family Support. Our Mini Car show for the 5th of May was in this humble mans mind, a great big success. From all the comments I heard that day and since, we did well. Would also like to throw out a “job well done” to Nancy for the report she did on the car show. There were 23 cars on Saturday, which was our original day of the show, and 6 on the extra day that we added, Sunday. I really want to thank those who showed up on Sunday, which was really great. There were some great suggestions as we learned from this show for the next one we do for Korum. Speaking of Korum, not only were they fantastic to us but had great gifts for us and a wonderfully prepared breakfast. Everyone attending and bringing in a car got a hat and Sebastian said next year maybe we want to do T-shirts. A great idea! It was also super fantastic to meet the owner, Jerry Korum, what a wonderfully nice person. Everyone who met him was very impressed with him. We are so lucky to have Korum working with our club. It has been great this year and I look forward to more happenings. The winners of our mini car show were as follows; 3rd place: Lynette Gallant-Nee; 2nd place: Bill Norman; 1st place: Pablo Duran; and Best in Show: Pete Freeman. Congratulations to all who showed up for the event as with out you the show would not have been such a success. Again this year Tim Gwyn has taken the helm and forged ahead with the Vintage Car Races. They will be held at Pacific Raceway (old SIR track) and looks to be another great year for them. Proceeds from this event go to the Children’s Hospital in Seattle. The dates are June 29th thru July 1st. Tickets are $45 dollars for all three days or $25 dollars for one day. Well worth the price and understand that Parnell Jones will be there. I know I would like to get his autograph on my poster of the Boss 302. The big plus is that we not only get great parking for the show, but we also get to drive out on the track on Saturday and Sunday. If you would like to go or need more information, please contact Tim at 253-752-4588. You need to call Tim if you would like to attend, time is SOOOOO short. A GREAT EVENT we even get to drive on the track. What a rush. One of the big items we discussed at our last meeting was the idea of having a fun event or cruise each month. Our first of many cruises is being scheduled for July 6th to a Drive-In Theater. I believe it is in Auburn. There will be more information at the next meeting as to where we will meet and directions to the Theater. It sounds like a real blast from the past on this one. Other up coming events discussed are a ballgame at Cheney Stadium and another cruise will be a potluck dinner I started last with last month picking on someone who does not get a lot of “Thank You” from us. This month I would like to say a BIG thank you to our board members. Your elected people who give up their time and energy to help make this a great club. Their enthusiasm to take on the tasks of making things happen for this club, have been outstanding. When ever asked, they have not hesitated to step up to the task and meet it head on. Dan Alpert for taking care of the web site and many other things we have asked him to do. Paul Nee, who has taken on the big task of secretary for our club. What a huge task and as busy as he gets, he still gets this task done. Nancy, our friendly treasurer, who has kept track of our money and made sure we are doing what we should with it and making returns so that the treasury continues to grow. What a crew we have. Do not forget to let them know how much we appreciate them and all their hard work. As Benny Goodman might have said as one of the King’s of Swing, “I Really think we are in the swing now”. Keep up the great work. See you all at our next meeting in June. April 2007 The 15th Annual “All Ford & Mustang Roundup.” Get your application and get it in early. I can not thank those who have volunteered and who stepped up at the meeting and volunteered to take a sub-chairman job. Nancy Freeman, print materials & financial tracking; Pete Freeman, permits & fire Extinguishers; Dan Alpert, parking & rental; Paul Nee, flyer/registration form and design & PA system; Bryan Zimbelman, poker walk. For this car show to be a really huge success it will take the help of all of us to make it the one everyone wants to attend each year. If you missed the meeting, we are working toward having trophies that will inspire those who come to return next year. I want to thank Tom Alpert for chairing the car show and helping with a few other operations for the club this year so far. We are sad to announce that he has asked to step down due to family and personal matters. Although we sincerely will miss him and his contributions to the club, we totally understand and wish him nothing but good luck with a huge THANK YOU for all he has done. Our Mini Car show for the 5th of May is looking like
we are going to have a great time. Sebastian has told us that he and
his staff are looking forward to this event and hopefully something
that we can build on for the coming years. As of this report, it
appears that we have 16 cars signed up and this will be a fantastic
showing of our support to Korum Ford for their support of our
club. Breakfast will be provided and Sebastian said he will even be
cooking, so this is something to look forward to. Again this year Tim Gwynn has taken the helm and forged ahead with the Vintage Car Races. You can either purchase your tickets at the May meeting but we must have your commitment by June 1st . One of the big items we discussed at our last meeting was the idea of having a fun event or cruise each month. We know that we all do not go to Car Shows and the idea of cruising around doing things might be a good idea. I know I will never win a prize for my car, although I think it looks nice. It is a driver and I like to just cruise. With that in mind, we came up with this idea and it was thought by the club to be what they thought was a good idea as they voted to do it. Some of the ideas for cruises were to go to a drive-in theater, another was to go to a Rainiers game. We had quite a few great ideas which we will work on and get some thing going to have fun and cruise. If you have some ideas let us know and let us show off our cars and spirit of the club to this old world. I can not close this months report until I thank a lady who has done a lot of work for our club and as I think about it, has not been given a lot of thank you’s, Monica Kirkland, our raffle lady. So far this year we have had not just raffles but raffles with great prizes. Thanks to her we have had an anxious group of members just waiting for that time in the meeting when we draw the winners. You have to come to the meeting and maybe you will be the lucky one. Again, Thank you Monica for a great job. Jerry Murphy March 2007 It looks like Pete Freeman has done it again. Yes, he has stepped up and put together our March cruise. The “Five Card Draw Poker Cruise”, held on March 17th . We met at Krispy Kreme at 10am. YES, this was St Patty’s day and all showed up in their green for the occasion. Thanks Pete for stepping up and setting this up, you did a fantastic job. We had a couple of clubs that join us for the fun and I heard nothing but compliments from all those I talked to. YES, Flyers and the registration form is out for our big car show. The 15th Annual “All Ford & Mustang Roundup”. Get your application and get it in early. I want to thank those who stepped up at the meeting and volunteered to take a sub-chairman job and help make this car show really a huge success that will help make it the one everyone wants to attend each year. If you missed the meeting, we are working toward having trophies that will inspire those who come to return next year. Our Luncheon with Sebastian Finocchiaro went well and I think everyone there felt a very positive atmosphere. Not only was the lunch good, but there were subjects discussed and conclusions reached that I think will benefit us all. One of the items is a Mini Car Show at Korum Ford. They will be providing a trophy and the staff and customers will be voting on which car is the best. This event will be held on the 5th of May and we had 15 members sign up for this show which is for members only. Thanks for showing your support to the club and Korum Ford. Just a note about the vote on club jackets held at the last meeting. We presently have 27 Families or members registered and of those 16 Families were represented at the vote. A final decision was reached and we hope to have something out to let you know not only the design that was choosen, but where to get one and costs. I want to thank all for your understanding in my approach to this year. I have tried to build on our enthusiasm as a club as well as pride in our club. That was my thoughts when I brought up the whole thing about pins and jackets for and about the club. I just want to see us continue to move forward as we continue to build for the future. With the support we are getting from our members and Korum Ford, we can do nothing but continue to improve and get bigger and better as a club. Thanks for your support and continued attendance at our meetings. Jerry Murphy February 2007 Well our first month into the year has past and we are beginning to get busy. The first two cruises were great. If you did not make them, well you missed great times. The first one found us going to “The Mustang Shop”. It is always a good thing to know where you can go for some expert work and that they know about Mustangs. With our club and visitors, we had 51 cars show up. What a show! The next cruise was our Valentine Cruise. We again met at Krispy Kreme and from there we had a good group driving up to the Chateau St. Michelle winery. We got a tour and an explanation of how they make wine and where the grapes come from. We had a great lunch and the ladies got some shopping at Molbaks. I for one am looking forward to other cruises throughout this year. We still are looking for some volunteers for some of our sub- committees for the car show. I think those who have stepped up so far are doing a great job, however we need to fill all the jobs needed for this super event. Let us work on making this as huge a success, as was last years. It will take all of us, not just those filling a position, but lots of helpers at the car show. Help your club shine and prove that we really do have a fantastic car show. Thank you. We are proud to say that we are in the process of talking with Mr. Sebastian Finocchiaro, General Manager of KORUM Automotive Group. We have had nothing but positive and encouraging responses from Mr. Finocchiaro. He has repeatedly told us how much of a Mustang enthusiast he is and that he is glad our club meets there. We are very happy and glad for this relationship with KORUM Ford. At our last meeting we had a couple of guests that brought us great news about the Daffodil Parade festivities for this year. It sounds like it is getting bigger and better each year and the Daffodil committee is doing great things for our part in it. For those who can make it, April 21st is the date and we will have more information for you later. It looks like Pete Freeman has done it again. Yes, he has stepped up and put together our March cruise. The “Five Card Draw Poker Cruise”, to be held on March 17th . We will meet at Krispy Kreme at 10am and I hope you all will be wearing your green. YES, this is St Patty’s day and with a name like Murphy, I will be looking for those not wearing green (You know what happens right!) Thanks Pete for stepping up and setting this up. I for one am really looking forward to it. Flyers and registration form is out for our big car show. Yes, the 15th Annual “All Ford & Mustang Roundup”. Get your application and get it in early. I want to throw out a BIG THANK YOU to all who have worked so hard to get us to this point for the Car Show. Great job! There is just one last item for this month’s corner. I said in our last club meeting that I really feel that communication is a very important ingredient for success in any organization. If anyone has anything they think needs to be brought up to either the board or at a club meeting, please let me know. I will not promise that everything gets discussed, however attention will be given to all questions, suggestions or problems. If not brought up in a meeting, you will receive an answer to your request/question/idea from me. Thank you and I hope to see as many as can make it to our next cruise. Jerry Murphy January 2007 As we begin 2007, we are looking forward to a great year with lots of activities and things to keep us busy as we want to be. We look forward to hitting the ground running with the following events for the next few months and ask you to please note them on your calendars.
We hope to have as many participate as can and have successful outings. Remember, the more the merrier. This is only the tip of the ice berg, as they say, because your Board members are working hard for you and a calendar should be forth coming very soon. Our most important event this year is our car show in August. The date has been set for August the 11th this year. We really need you all to look at your calendars and plan on not only attending, but volunteering for one of the committees. Last years show was the most successful we had done to date. We are hoping this year to do as good or even better. This is a great way for you to help the club make this a huge success. We will be posting the committees that we need assistance with in upcoming Newsletters. The last club meeting we were very happy to have as our guests Karl Mahl, Saleen’s Retail Brand Manager, and Jeff Beaty, Korum Ford’s General Sales Manager. Karl gave us a brief presentation which was very enlightening. I think we all learned something about the new Saleen and how it came to be. He also donated a Saleen jacket and a signed poster of the “Legend Reborn” for our car show raffle. I think I will buy a lot of tickets myself for those items. Welcome to the “Life Membership” status to Richard & Cynthia Coombs and Leon & Michel Peters. Thanks for all your support over the years to the Club. We really appreciate it. I know this is a little bit longer then most of these have been in the past, but had a couple of items I felt should be included at this time. One bad trait I do have is being a little bit overboard with information in an effort to make sure you are properly informed on the happenings. If you have any thing you feel needs to be brought up at a board meeting or club meeting, by all means let us know.Jerry Murphy
