GUEST CELEBRITY: Parnelli Jones, 1963 Indy 500 winner and first driver to qualify above 150 mph. Jones raced at Indy seven times and led in five of those races. Jones was a dominant force in USAC and was the personification of competitive spirit. He won races in all four USAC divisions and won championships in two (Sprint and Stock Car Racing). He was also successful in road racing and won the 1970 Trans-Am championship driving a Ford Mustang. Jones applied his competitive spirit competing in off-road racing and won the grueling and treacherous Baja 500 five times and the Baja 1,000 three times. He is an honored member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame.

EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Pacific Northwest Historics features many of the world’s rarest and most beautiful pre-1972 race cars. The featured marque for the 2014 Pacific Northwest Historics will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Mustang.
Other favorite marques including Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, Porsches, Alfa Romeos, and some less recognizable names like Marcos, Devin, and Piper will be racing. Most are in mint condition through extensive restoration, and many attain speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour. Competitors come from all over the West Coast and Canada. The wheel to wheel competition runs on the challenging 2.25 mile Pacific Raceways road course which includes nine turns, a 200-300 foot elevation drop, and a near ¾ mile straightaway. The paddock area and in-field are open to all spectators.
FEATURED DISPLAY: Our featured display will pay tribute to the American Ford Mustang as it celebrates its’ 50th anniversary. The original pony car, creator of the class of affordable performance cars that produced many of the Detroit Three’s greatest vehicles, turns 50 on April 17, 2014. Ford revealed the first Mustang in 1964 just a few days before its public display at the 1964 World’s Fair. The first regular production Mustangs rolled off the Dearborn Assembly Plant line in Michigan on March 9, 1964. According to Sam Abuelsamid, Mustang editor at Global Team Ford communications, the initial media preview of the Mustang took place at the New York World’s Fair on April 13, and the official on-sale date was April 17, 1964. Ford originally forecast fewer than 100,000 sales in the first year. Instead, more than 400,000 were sold in the ensuing 50 years, more than 9.2 million Mustangs would be produced and sold, most of them originating close to Ford’s headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.
CAR CORRAL: An additional 400+ vintage and collector cars from local car clubs will be on display in the car corral on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
